| Yoruba House maintains a sacred space for drum, dance, prayer and song, open to men, women and children of all cultural backgrounds. Baba Ayo and Iyalode (Mother of the House) Carole, have witnessed the transformation of many lives, including their own. So much is happening for each one of us daily. It is healing to come together as a community . We let our drums talk, our voices harmonize, and our bodies move in concert. The combination allows us to let go of our suffering and feel the spirit. Giving meaning to what we are doing results in a higher state of consciousness. Ayo as well as first time drummers frequent our circles. Respect is the underlying principle at Yoruba House. Each circle is unique and has its own rhythm. The circles begin with repetition of different trance- rhythms, followed by chanting and other community ritual. The purpose of the circles are to invoke healing Spirit, give thanks, and rejoice. |
People of all ages--adults
and children alike--drummers of all levels, dancers and singers, all are
welcome. Everyone participates in our drum circles, whether novices or
experts. Bring food and/or drink to share .
